Happy New Year everyone – all the best for 2011

Happy New Year Everyone,

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas wherever you are in the world. I stayed at home in London and had quality time with my family. My wallet is a lot lighter and my stomach is a lot heavier, but surely that is what its all about.

As we move into Spring we are entering into the busiest time of year for DIY. A bit of Spring cleaning soon leads into us thinking about what we can do to our homes to make the even better for the rest of the year. The property market is going to continue to be tough throughout 2011, but instead of moving house this is the year where clever improvements to your existing home can make a big difference to the way you live as well as adding value.

For me 2011 is going to be a busy year. Apart from running my office and filming the second series of Restoration Man, I’m at The Ideal Home Show again from 11th-27th March where you are going to see some amazing show homes. This is going to be a brilliant show. To book tickets go to www.idealhomeshow.co.uk . I’ll also be doing a lot for The Prince’s Foundation for the Built Environment and for Shelter.

I truly hope that you all have a fantastic 2011. May you, your family and your home  be healthy, happy and safe.

Thanks for all of your support.

Take care

George x

    Hello George,
Happy New Year to you. I live in the Middle East and expect the editions of The Home Show we receive are probably from a while ago, but I am interested to know, for the episode where you transformed an elderly peoples’ home, you gave them a mini hair salon: a great idea, and I understand you were not given anywhere near the budget you had hoped for, but I’m very surprised you didnt install a ‘backwash’ basin, as you would find in a salon, rather than an ordinary basin, forcing the residents to still have to bend over.I believe you asked companies to donate items, so I feel it was a missed opportunity. Thank you, and well done for a great show! Kim

A Happy New Year to you and your family too.

I’m only one amongst the many who are eagerly awaiting the new series of your Restoration Man programme because it’s brilliant – it’s wonderful finding out about the history of these old buildings and then to watch them taking shape (or not, occasionally…!)

    Thanks George!

Hi George, mate I have watched your old show Build a New Life many times over on FOXTEL and I never get tried of it. Look forward to FOXTEL running your new series some time soon. I must say that Kevin McCloud and yourself capture these shows the best and the rest are even worth the effort of turn on to. Looking Forward to the new show.
