Hi we are having a kitchen/dining/family room extension and I have compromised and let my husband choose the black slate floor (practical with dogs, cats and kids) but my dream was travertine light and airy :( need to decorate and try to keep it light as the room is south west facing and whilst it will be sunny in the afternoon the original kitchen part is quite dark and even the new part will be dark in the morning. Any suggestions for a light warm colour to help create the effect of classic contemporary. By the way we have black granite worktops and light oak units. I have all the paint charts but lack the courage to choose! any suggestions will be so appreciated!!

Hi George,

I have just tried to buy a house but at the last minute the developer put the price up by £15k. So decided to stay in out current house but the space just isn't working. The living room and kitchen are just not working both are too narrow. Can you give me some tips on where to start. I have a budget of about £40k to get the house right but have no ideas where to start or who to start with.

Thanks

Hello George,

You rock ! I too really appreciate your amazing sense of space and light.
Is there any chance that you would be interested in working (for the show as well if you wish) on my house in the south of France ? We really need help with the inside and I can't find any decent architect here.
So if you were going to say yes, it would be like winning the lotery !!!lol
Cheers,
Caroline

Hi George, We are a Dorset Couple living in a Georgian Grade 2 listed house in Tolpuddle.Listed building consent have just turned down our plans for a much needed decent sized kitchen in a sub-standard 1970's extension on the back of the house. We used a reputable company for the application and for the design of the orangery -type extension. After spending thousands we have got exactly no-where .We have lived here for 25 years and raised a family here - I would love some inspirational advice about what to do next and you have the vision.

George, HELP ! The simplest of things, (or so I thought) Am having a complete new kitchen and have had the tiles removed from the window sill area. Have had the area re skimmed, so now I am looking to get a nice, proper window ledge without having to tile, but this is proving impossible. Any suggestions,?? Obviously I will need to get a skilled person in, but I really am after a well finished job. Angie

Hi George,

Just watched restoration man, I loved the idea and cant get enough of the 'before' and 'after' pictures but what I wanted to comment on was how reassuring it is to see a presenter that genuinely get s involved with each of the families on the show. You have encountered first hand how families put their heart and soul into creating homes whilst dealing with serious health issues and your empathy and sincerity comes accross. I hope its helped you 'keep it real' and not get lost in the showbiz pantomime. Good luck with everything. x
